SUNEX FISH S8 400 X hot water tank for domestic hot water
The SUNEX FISH S8 400 X is a floor-standing, enamelled hot water tank for storing and providing domestic hot water. The model has a nominal capacity of 400 litres and a storage volume of 409 litres specified for the energy label.
The version without an integrated heat exchanger is suitable for professionally planned hot water systems with appropriate external tank charging or an electric auxiliary heating. The larger storage volume supports applications with correspondingly increased hot water demand.
Technology and equipment
The tank body is made of steel S235JR and is enamelled on the domestic water side. Two magnesium sacrificial anodes supplement the corrosion protection of the inner tank. The construction is designed for storing domestic hot water and complies with the design of enamelled tanks according to DIN 4753.
A fixed foamed, CFC-free PUR rigid foam insulation with a thickness of 50 millimetres reduces heat loss to the surroundings. The grey PVC outer jacket forms a closed and easy-care exterior surface. The standby heat loss is 61 watts; the tank is assigned to energy efficiency class B.
The equipment includes an inspection opening with a diameter of 122/179 millimetres, three connection positions for hot water sensors, a thermometer connection, a circulation connection, and two connection positions in G 1 1/2 inch for electric auxiliary heaters or heating elements.
Everyday benefits
The inspection opening allows access to the inner tank for inspection, cleaning, and maintenance. Three differently arranged sensor connections support temperature detection at several tank heights adapted to the system control.
A hot water circulation can be integrated via the separate circulation connection. Unneeded openings can be closed during professional installation. In addition, a connection option for the intended UV-20 disinfection system is available.
System integration and compatibility
The SUNEX FISH S8 400 X does not have an integrated heat exchanger. The stored drinking water must therefore be heated via a suitable external storage charging system or a separately sized electric auxiliary heater.
The hot water and cold water connections are each designed in G 1 inch. A connection in G 3/4 inch is available for hot water circulation. The three sensor connections and the thermometer connection each have G 1/2 inch.
The heat generator, charging device, safety group, drinking water expansion vessel, pressure reducer, circulation, and temperature control must be sized to match the hot water demand and the intended system concept.
Technical data at a glance
| Storage tank type | Hot water storage tank |
| Nominal capacity | 400 liters |
| Suitable for drinking water | Yes |
| Storage tank material | Steel S235JR, enameled inside |
| Integrated heat exchangers | 0 |
| Insulation | 50 mm rigid PUR foam with gray PVC jacket |
| Maximum operating temperature | 95 °C |
| Maximum operating pressure | 10 bar |
| Height | 1,502 mm |
| Width | 757 mm |
| Depth | 757 mm |
| Empty weight | 124 kg |
Mounting
The storage tank must be installed exclusively in an upright position on a load-bearing, level and horizontal surface. For transport and installation, in addition to the height of 1,502 millimeters, the diagonal dimension of 1,637 millimeters, the outer diameter of 757 millimeters and the empty weight of 124 kilograms must be taken into account.
A suitable safety group and a safety valve with an opening pressure of 6 bar must be provided at the cold water connection. No shut-off device that impairs the safety function may be installed between the safety valve and the storage tank. If the supply pressure exceeds 6 bar, a suitable pressure reducer is required.
Before the heat generator or an electric auxiliary heater is put into operation, the storage tank must be completely filled, vented and checked for tightness at all connections.
Notes
For permanently safe operation, the water quality, corrosion protection and condition of the magnesium anodes must be checked regularly. A pH value of 6.5 to 8.5, an electrical conductivity of at least 200 µS/cm and a chloride content of no more than 150 mg/l are specified.
The magnesium anodes must be inspected at least every 18 months and replaced if they show corresponding wear. Shorter maintenance intervals may be required in the case of high water hardness, critical water quality, heavy deposits or intensive use.
At high hot water temperatures, suitable thermostatic anti-scald protection must be provided. Electric auxiliary heaters may only be connected in accordance with their respective instructions and by a qualified electrician.
