Why does fireclay wear out over time?
Due to the large proportion of mineral substances, fireclay also has a small disadvantage: it is relatively brittle.
Prolonged exposure to high heat eventually causes cracks.
These are the first signs of material stress, but not yet a reason for replacement.
Fireclay should only be replaced when parts of the material fall out and the protection of the stove can no longer be guaranteed.
During fireplace maintenance, the fireclay should therefore always be checked.

Two questions keep coming up in this context:
Is a broken fireclay brick after prolonged firing a warranty case? No.
The firebox lining is treated as a wear part.
Must the stove manufacturer, the chimney sweep, or the dealer replace the fireclay brick?
Here too, the answer is a clear no:
The operator of the stove is responsible for the firebox lining themselves.
You could hire a professional for this, but if you have manual skills, you can also do the replacement yourself.
Another good news: The replacement material is considerably cheaper than you might think.
