The GEMA MDC 400 heating module with DEFRO DEH34 heating element 4.5 kW 400 V is a coordinated bundle for additional heat input into central heating systems. It combines the Elektromet MDC 400 heating module with a matching DEFRO ZGTi screw-in heating element in the 4.5 kW performance variant.
The bundle is suitable for heating heating water in open or closed central heating systems with appropriate safety devices. Typical application areas include supplementary heating, frost protection support, emergency heat support, or the use of surplus electricity to introduce heat into the heating circuit.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC 400 module is designed as an electric flow heater or heating module for central heating systems. It features a steel tank with 50 mm polyurethane foam thermal insulation, a plastic outer casing, and an ABS plastic lid.
The DEFRO DEH34 heating element belongs to the ZGTi series with controller and thermostat. The 4.5 kW version operates at 400 V / 3 x 230 V, has a 1 1/2-inch connection thread, temperature control from 30 to 75 °C, a safety temperature limiter at 98 °C, and protection class IP55.
Everyday Benefits
The bundle enables electric supplementary heat directly in the heating circuit and can support existing heat generators such as solid fuel boilers, fireplace systems with water jacket, gas or oil boilers, as well as heat pumps.
By combining the heating module and the matching electric heating cartridge, the separate selection of the central components is eliminated. Operators receive a clearly assignable solution with 4.5 kW output for systems where the hydraulic and electrical integration is professionally planned.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC 400 module is integrated into a parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. The heating circuit connection of the module is designed as an internal thread G 1 1/4, and the socket for the electric heating cartridge as an internal thread G 1 1/2.
The medium is water or a glycol mixture suitable for heating systems with a concentration of up to 50%. For operation, the required minimum flow rate must be ensured; at 4.5 kW, this is 257 l/h.

Installation
The heating module is hydraulically integrated into the parallel heating circuit. The system must be completely filled, vented, and checked for leaks before the electrical supply is activated.
Installation, electrical connection, fusing, protective measures, and recommissioning may only be carried out by qualified professionals. An additional circulation pump is required to ensure that the minimum flow rate of 257 l/h at 4.5 kW is reliably achieved.
Notes
Operation without water is not permitted. The heating element must not be operated dry, and the housing of the heating cartridge must not be covered or thermally insulated.
A functional safety valve with the appropriate opening pressure is required. The selection of power, hydraulic integration, and electrical sizing do not replace proper system planning.
