The GEMA MDC 230 bundle module + heating element EEHP3 3.0 kW 230 V is an electric auxiliary heating module for central heating systems. It combines the MDC 230 heating module with a matching 3.0 kW electric heating cartridge for operation at 230 V and is integrated directly into the heating circuit to provide additional heat input.
This version is suitable for heating support, frost protection support, emergency heat support, and for utilizing controlled surplus electricity, provided that the hydraulic and electrical integration is properly planned and implemented by a qualified professional.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC 230 is designed as an electric heating module for central heating systems. The tank is made of steel, finished internally as raw steel, powder-coated on the outside, and fitted with 50 mm thick polyurethane foam thermal insulation. The outer cladding is made of plastic, and the lid is made of ABS plastic.
The EEHP3 electric heating cartridge included in the bundle operates with 3.0 kW output at 230 V single-phase power. It features a plug connection, stepless temperature control up to approx. 65 °C, a frost protection function, and a non-self-resetting safety temperature limiter that trips at approx. 93 °C.
Everyday Benefits
The bundle enables additional electric heat input directly in the heating circuit without requiring a separate heat generator with fuel supply. This allows an existing heating system to be technically and sensibly supplemented when integrated appropriately.
The 3.0 kW version is the highest output level within the 230 V MDC 230 series and is particularly suitable for applications where compact electric auxiliary power is needed in the heating system.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC 230 is integrated into the parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. Operation is intended for open or closed central heating systems with appropriate safety devices.
For proper operation, an additional circulation pump is required to ensure the minimum flow rate through the heating module. The module is designed for water or a suitable glycol mixture up to a maximum concentration of 50%.

Assembly
The assembly of the heating module, the hydraulic connection, and the electrical testing must be carried out by qualified personnel. The MDC 230 is integrated into the heating circuit and may only be operated once the system has been completely filled, vented, and checked for leaks.
For the 3.0 kW version, a minimum flow rate of 171 l/h must be ensured. The additional circulation pump must be arranged so that it works together with the heating cartridge and reliably dissipates the heat from the module.
Notes
The heating module must not be operated dry. The safety valve, venting, minimum flow rate, electrical protection, and control connection must be checked before commissioning. No shut-off valves may be installed between the safety valve and the heating module.
The bundle does not replace system planning, heat load calculation, or electrical sizing. When using excess PV power, suitable external control or switching logic is required.
